Crafting a Dollar Tree Easter Topiary Wreath

This Easter topiary wreath idea came to me when I found a super cute gift box at the Dollar Tree. The size was perfect and the unique color palette of lilac and pastels with a brown base caught my eye. I had just found Country Charm with Tracy on YouTube, and her gorgeous wreath tutorials, and I thought I’d give it a try – mini sized!

Tracy has lots of tutorials, but I specifically watched her mesh wreath basics and ribbon bundle basics for inspiration for this project.

To start, I used the 8 inch wire wreath form and white mesh from Dollar Tree for my base. Before adding the mesh á la “Tracy style”, I hot glued and wired on a metal stick from another garden sign. You could also use a skewer. The connection should be very strong to hold the whole wreath.

To cover the wire form, I wrapped it with Dollar Tree burlap ribbon. Then I added Dollar Tree white mesh using Tracy’s bubble method, with one row around the front and one row around the back. I poked the chenille stems between the ribbon and around the metal of the form, and connected to the wreath form 6 times around the circumference. Then I did the same on the back, staggering the placement from the front connections so it looks like 12 bubbles altogether. (I added the mesh on the back since this will be a topiary and may be seen from the backside.)

Next I created my little ribbon bundles with various Dollar Tree ribbon, keeping with the color palette of the gift box container. The green check ribbon is from the St. Patrick’s Day collection, and the narrow pastel ribbons are from the Spring collection. I added a bundle to each chenille stem connection on the front. To keep with the natural look and coordinate with the brown coloring of the gift box, I added twine bows to each bundle. I also added twine bows to each connection on the back to give it some simple pizzazz. To finish the bundles I poked in some little flowers and leaves to fill in the spaces.

Finally I filled the gift box part way with Dollar Tree stones, added floral foam and floral moss, and carefully inserted my wreath topiary above the box.

I just love how my little Easter wreath topiary worked out, and I can’t wait to make more versions of mesh wreaths – they are so fun to craft!
