Who doesn’t love cupcakes? Cupcakes are so popular for celebration treats and themes. So when I found some colorful corrugated cardboard, it reminded me of cupcake wrappers and I decided to build some crafty versions made with the cardboard, felt, and sequins.
As usual, I used my favorite large glue stick to adhere the cupcakes to my handmade paper. (How to details here.) Using glue sticks is so basic, but it really works – keeping things completely flat and edges sealed.
I usually use an A2 envelope (4 3/8 x 5 3/4 inches) for my handmade cards. I like the A2 size because they are a standard size easily found at craft stores, and the card to fit inside can be made from one half of a letter-size paper (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, then folded in half.) They make cute small cards and are easy to give as sets of four tied with a ribbon for gifts.
These crafty cards turned out so fun with the confetti handmade paper as a base and the dimensional corrugated cardboard “wrappers.” I added the “Happy Birthday” wording, cut from an inkjet printout, with colored staples (found at the dollar store!). All the embellishments give the card a casual collage style.
