It’s holiday sewing time, and I found this super cute fabric for creating an easy advent calendar and coordinating quilt. This set is perfect for kiddos to enjoy the magic of Christmas! I found this fabric called “Bearly Christmas” from Northcott Fabrics. It’s filled with cute little woodland animals like bears, raccoons, and foxes, opening presents and playing in the snow. I bought two panels – an advent calendar and woodland scene blocks. http://www.northcott.com/product-detail.aspx?fbid=1&colid=2395&colorid=3180 The best part about the advent calendar is the unique way…
I found this cute pattern at my local quilt fabric shop and thought it would be a great project to practice a little free-motion quilting. (https://www.sewnwyoming.com/shop/zipit) For the fabric, I chose Wonder by Carrie Bloomston from Windham fabrics, which has pretty collage butterflies and little colored triangles. Then I found some coordinating bright solid fabrics and zipper to add some pop. The pattern is fairly easy to cut and assemble, so I spent most of my time concentrating on the free-motion quilting. I quilted in my favorite loopy squiggle, and included some flowers…
Here’s another version of the Super Simple Towel Topper Tutorial – adding gathering to the towel and creating your own quilted fabric. I tried a gathering option for towels that have images and words that go across the entire towel. And making your own quilted fabric makes it possible to use any coordinating fabric you like! To create this towel, use the same supply list from my Super Simple Towel Topper Tutorial, replacing the pre-quilted fabric with regular fabric and batting pieces. Supplies: Kitchen towels (I’m using fall towels from the Christmas Tree Shops in this example.) Fabric…
This is a traditional log cabin pattern wall hanging that I spun with a modern twist. Years ago as a teen, I found Quilt in a Day by Eleanor Burns. I watched her quilt show on PBS, and was so inspired by her fun attitude. She makes quilting easy and fun, with tips like chain sewing patchwork blocks and brushing off mistakes that we all make (hello seam ripper!) I still have my first log cabin Quilt in a Day book, and my first twin-size quilt I stitched and used during college – crafted in my favorite 1990’s mauve…
