3D Fabric Christmas Wreath

I love this pattern for the Fold ‘n’ Stitch Wreath from Poor House Quilt Designs. It’s so fun to make and creates a beautiful piece for the holidays. I used three gold metallic accented fabrics in a bright modern combination that I couldn’t resist. The pattern has all the detailed instructions – it’s a clever idea using 12 squares with a large print fabric appliqued on top. You can turn the squares right side without leaving and opening that needs closing, because of the “X” cut in each. The “X” is covered by the applique – so cool! Tips…

Christmas Linen Table Runner Tutorial

I found this beautiful fabric last year and couldn’t resist buying a couple yards for my stash. It’s unusual, because it can be fringed like linen, but it’s 100% polyester and doesn’t wrinkle at all! I love the metallic gold accents, and how the print is in long rows along the length of the fabric. It was saying, “Make me into a table runner!” This tutorial creates a 14 x 72 inch runner, but can be modified for your table size.   Supplies: 2 yards Holiday Pinecone with Glitter Linen fabric (from Jo-Ann Fabrics…

Sew a Thanksgiving Table Runner with Fall Leaf Quilt Blocks

The finished size is 60 x 17 inches, so it works best on a 42 inch wide table, but can also be a table topper for any size table. I also share 2 alternate layouts for a more narrow table runner or a square table topper. Supplies: 2/3 Yard Large Print Fabric (E) 1/4 Yard Each of 3 Leaf Fabrics (A,B,C) 1/3 Yard Leaf Background Fabric (D) Backing Fabric (I use inexpensive solid off-white cotton fabric…

How to Sew Your Own Microwave Heating Pad

Here’s a simple tutorial for a rice-filled heating pad, with lots of tips to make it neat and easy. I’ve made many of these for our church bazaar, and they are great sellers every time! And great for gift giving, especially for the chilly holidays. A funny note – I finally made one for myself after all these years! I bet some of you can relate.  🙂 This size is perfect for wrapping around your neck and shoulders, and stays on while sitting or standing. Or for laying across your stomach or both feet. Supplies Needed: 2…
