Here’s a super easy way to craft yarn wrapped pumpkins that are similar to the popular fuzzy pumpkins in all the stores. They are quick to make multiples and perfect for piling up for cozy decor or selling at a craft fair. The yarn I found is 72 yards, and enough to make 8 to 10 pumpkins. Most of the supplies are from the Dollar Tree!
Supplies:
Dollar Tree foam pumpkins
Dollar Tree wood stems
Dollar Tree Maple Bouquet (or similar small leaves)
Bernat Extra Thick Blanket yarn in Pumpkin color (I found it at Jo Ann fabrics)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Pull out the stem and cut a 2 inch hole in the top and bottom of the foam pumpkin.
Cut 32 pieces of yarn, 10 inches long.
To begin, add a line of hot glue near the top hole, attach a piece of the yarn, tucking about an inch or two into the hole. Add the same line of glue near the bottom hole, bring the yarn around the pumpkin, stick into the glue and tuck into the bottom hole.
To keep the yarn even, glue four pieces in four quadrants.
Glue four more pieces in between the first four.
Then add eight more in between those. As the pumpkin gets filled with yarn, continue to add the glue onto the pumpkin and tuck the ends into the top and bottom holes.
Finally, add the remaining 16 pieces in between the 16 glued pieces. The holes will start to become filled and the yarn will be tightly packed. For the last 2 or 3 pieces, add some glue to the end of the yarn and tuck in, so all the pieces stay secured.
The pumpkin should be completely covered with yarn.
For the final touch, hot glue a leaf and a stem to the top, pressing them into the indent of where all the yarn meets in the hole.
Enjoy your fuzzy pumpkins!
