Woodland Animals Christmas Advent Calendar and Kid’s Quilt

It’s holiday sewing time, and I found this super cute fabric for creating an easy advent calendar and coordinating quilt. This set is perfect for kiddos to enjoy the magic of Christmas! I found this fabric called “Bearly Christmas” from Northcott Fabrics. It’s filled with cute little woodland animals like bears, raccoons, and foxes, opening presents and playing in the snow. I bought two panels – an advent calendar and woodland scene blocks. http://www.northcott.com/product-detail.aspx?fbid=1&colid=2395&colorid=3180 The best part about the advent calendar is the unique way…

Layered Flower Cards with 2-Sided Dies

I “picked” these new 2-sided rose and dahlia flower dies by Crafters Companion and had some fun crafting these cute cards for late summer. These dies create layered flowers and leaves, and have a nifty trick of cutting on both sides, so all four layers can be cut in my die cutting machine all at once. They have such a cool paint-by-numbers, dimensional look! I inherited a big stack of Close to My Heart cardstock years ago, and this project was the perfect chance to use all the fabulous colors! I also found the weight of the…

Quilted Zip It Pouch

I found this cute pattern at my local quilt fabric shop and thought it would be a great project to practice a little free-motion quilting. (https://www.sewnwyoming.com/shop/zipit) For the fabric, I chose Wonder by Carrie Bloomston from Windham fabrics, which has pretty collage butterflies and little colored triangles. Then I found some coordinating bright solid fabrics and zipper to add some pop. The pattern is fairly easy to cut and assemble, so I spent most of my time concentrating on the free-motion quilting. I quilted in my favorite loopy squiggle, and included some flowers…

Christmas Card 2018

For this year’s Christmas card, I used my new toy, the Gemini Die Cutting / Embossing Machine. It’s electric vs. the hand crank, so it’s easier to craft multiple and intricate dies. This was the first time I used it for a big project and I really like it! I made 30 cards using a set of embossing folders, a Merry Christmas die, and some extra stickers and embellishments I had in my craft stash. For the cards, I used 5 x 7 kraft paper cards and envelopes I bought at Hobby Lobby (I found a set of…
