This is a traditional log cabin pattern wall hanging that I spun with a modern twist.
Years ago as a teen, I found Quilt in a Day by Eleanor Burns. I watched her quilt show on PBS, and was so inspired by her fun attitude. She makes quilting easy and fun, with tips like chain sewing patchwork blocks and brushing off mistakes that we all make (hello seam ripper!) I still have my first log cabin Quilt in a Day book, and my first twin-size quilt I stitched and used during college – crafted in my favorite 1990’s mauve and mint color combo!
This is another classic from Eleanor, the Log Cabin Christmas Wreath quilt. You can still purchase the pattern at Amazon.
This pattern uses 3 greens and 3 whites, and red for the berries and border; plus a 3D bow, berries and leaves. For my version I crafted a more modern twist with bright fabrics and a simplified bow. For the quilting, I also kept it simple, using shadow stitches around the wreath shape.
I just love this pattern and love to be inspired by Eleanor again!
Here’s a bonus pattern idea: Craft a scrappy wreath table runner, using one-sided flying geese.
I picked 4 green fabrics and only added the background fabric on one side of each rectangle. Then I assembled the pieces as indicated on the photo.
To make it even more fun, I added some red berry buttons. I think Eleanor would like this fast and easy project. Wouldn’t this little table runner look great with a candle in each wreath?

Keep the wreath picture on this web site. The fabrics are much easier
to see than in the pattern. booklet.

Where can I get the pattern for this wreath? The web page you suggested is no longer available. I am new to quilting and would love to make this for my family.
